ASH Travel Grants

ASH provides awards to support travel by ASH student members to ASH meetings. Please read through the information to see if you are eligable and follow the links to the application forms.

Information for Applicants.

Up to ten travel grants of up to A$250 will be awarded in 2009 to student members of the Australian Society of Herpetologists. Students working in any field of herpetology may apply. The purpose of the award is two-fold: (1) assist students in travel expenses to attend the 2009 SMASH conference in Auckland in February 2009; and (2) reward outstanding academic and research performance. Academic merit is the primary criteria for the award. However, travel expenses of the individual applicants will be taken into consideration. Students being awarded a Research Grant will not be awarded a Travel Grant – but students are encouraged to apply for both.

Eligibility

Applicants MUST:

  • be a current financial member of the Australian Society of Herpetologists (see http://www.australiansocietyofherpetologists.org/Membership.html for more details on membership of ASH)
  • be a currently enrolled honours, Masters, Graduate Diploma or PhD student at an Australian University
  • give a spoken or poster presentation of their research at the 2009 SMASH conference

Selection criteria

The competition will be based on:

  • conference abstract
  • a budget of travel expenses to the 2009 ASH conference
  • a brief Curriculum Vitae

All applications must be made on the official application form available via the ASH web site (http://www.australiansocietyofherpetologists.org/Resources.html). Late applications will NOT be accepted. Winners of travel grants are required to acknowledge the Australian Society of Herpetologists in any publications arising from their research AND must present their work in either spoken or poster format at the next meeting of the Australian Society of Herpetologists.
